This coaster is hewn from a solid block of Algarrobo wood using the ancient technique of woodturning. All of our turned pieces are made by the Father/Son duo of Matias and Francisco Castro. Matias runs a wood-turning school in the Lanus neighborhood of Buenos Aires, and Fran, according to Mati, is his best student!
Algarrobo is native to Ecuador and Peru but has spread naturally across South America. It is renowned for its heavy, dense, almost black wood.
All coasters are treated with natural beeswax and mineral oil.
