This vase is hewn from a solid block of Algarrobo wood using the ancient technique of woodturning. All of our turned pieces are made by the Father/Son duo of Matias and Francisco Castro. Matias runs a wood-turning school in the Lanus neighborhood of Buenos Aires, and Fran, according to Mati, is his best student!

We designed The Demijohn Vase after the giant glass jugs that were commonly used to transport and store table wine in Argentina. While the Demijohn has been all but replaced by the common wine bottle, we wanted to tip our cap to Lady Jeanne.

Algarrobo is native to Ecuador and Peru but has spread naturally across South America. It is renowned for its heavy, dense, almost black wood.

All vases are treated with natural beeswax and are not designed to hold water. Instead, these vases are made for dried bouquets or can serve as standalone sculptures.

All of our turned pieces are made Matias and Francisco Castro. Matias runs a wood-turning school in the Lanus neighborhood of Buenos Aires.
